Arrhythmias Disease Treatment Center in NYC
An arrhythmia is the medical terminology for an abnormal heart
rhythm. These arrhythmias can be slow or fast depending on its
origin in the heart. These arrhythmias can also be at a regular
rate or an irregular rate. There are two upper chambers of the
heart called the atria and two lower chambers of the heart
called the ventricles. Bradycardia is the medical terminology
for a rhythm less than 60 beats per minute. Tachycardia is the
medical terminology for a rhythm greater than 100 beats per
minute.
The lay person’s term for arrhythmias usually are palpitations,
extra beats or fluttering of the heart.
If the abnormal heart rhythm originates from the atria it is
called an atrial arrhythmia. The most common irregular rhythm is
called atrial fibrillation. The rate or fastness of this rhythm
can either be slow or fast, thus atrial fibrillation with a slow
ventricular response usually requiring a pacemaker or atrial
fibrillation with a fast ventricular response requiring either
conventional medications, radiofrequency ablation and sometimes
even a pacemaker.
If the abnormal heart rhythm originates from the ventricles it
is called a ventricular arrhythmia. The most common life
threatening ventricular arrhythmia is called ventricular
tachycardia. The rate of a ventricular rhythm can be slow or
fast, thus ventricular rhythm can be less than 60 beats per
minute or greater than 100 beats per minute. The ventricular
life threatening arrhythmias can be treated with either
conventional medications or automatic implantable cardiac
defibrillators , called AICD.
Causes:
The most common conventional causes for arrhythmias include:
1. Valvular heart disease – usually either from the mitral or
aortic valves
2. Atherosclerosis – usually coronary artery disease
3. Hyperthyroidism – an overactive thyroid
4. Anemia
5. Stress/ Anxiety
6. Alcohol abuse
7. Drug addiction – usually cocaine

4. Infections
5. Heavy metal intoxication
Some herbal treatments for Arrhythmias Disease

a. Modern scientific literature since 1941 has proven effective
in treating arrhythmias and high blood pressure. Any herb should
not be used in combination with conventional medications as
there can be drug-herbal interaction. Consult a medical
professional
2. Mulberry ( Morus alba)
a. The juice from this berry has been shown to improve
circulation

conditions
b. It has been shown to decrease the bad (LDL) cholesterol
