JANUARY 23, 2020 DEPRESSION AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES

Depression is a real medical illness. Depression is the leading cause of disability within the United States ages 15-44. It does rank 3 top disease among the work place. It accounts for 210 billion dollars

It is reported that 80 % of those treated with depression who improvement in 4 to 8 weeks . This is encouraging. Yet 2/3 of people with de[pression do not seek medical treatment. I feel many individuals are fearful of the drugs used for treatment. At the end of last year a book was published which peaked my interest. Depression: The Mind Body, Diet and Lifestyle Connection by Ray Griffiths is worth a read. There are triggers as discussed in the book as stress, vitamin deficiency, addictions as sugar, alcohol etc and dietary changes that affect our mood. There are brain - gut connections that affect different levels of neurotransmitters.

In addition it was refreshing to read about how a community and finding a passion ( I call this a hobby) can build neurotropins in the brain. This is a great book to read on a snowy day by a fireplace with a cup of lemon balm tea

JANUARY 22, 2020 CELERY JUICE : A FAD

There have been many books that have fascinated my mind. One of the books was the Medical Medium by Anthony Williams. It was not until I met him that I understood his gift. Truly he is a gift to humanity.

His books have changed the way medicine is being done. It is not only the Medical Medium It is his book on Thyroid and Liver. His writing is a conduit of information that is correct.

Can every person follow a book and get better. I have never thought that this could work for anyone. What I mean is that.. is the Atkins Diet by the late doctor Robert Atkins a diet for everyone one ? The answer is no. There are many aspects of the information in the Medical Medium that is very useful, pertinent and true.

It is true that the chronic infection, EBV has links to many diseases and signs of symptoms of many of my patients, I use celery juice and I advocate for celery juice. I think the dietary lifestyle changes written in his books needs to done on an individual basis.

Read the Medical Medium. I thoroughly enjoyed the book as well as Liver Rescue.

This disease is not prevalent in the United States but in India and Nepal Sadly it was described that this grass pea was given to Jews in the concentration camps during WW II.

JANUARY 18-19, 2020 ANCIENT SECRETS

There are many ancient healing secrets from different cultures. I always find this topic interesting to see what other cultures do to cure modern day ailments. One of the most annoying irritating fungal infection is Athlete’s Foot. It usually between on the third and fourth toe and then rapidly spreads

Whether it is the Jamaican or the Russians treated this fungal infection, they agree on this one herb. Allium sativum also known as Garlic. Yiou can do a garlic massage or apply garlic as a lotion to the area. To mask the odor of garlic some apply other herbs. These other herbs are anise , or cinnamon.

The British found the use of the leaves of tea tree for first aid in their travels. The oil from the tea tree is an excellent anti bacterial and anti fungal remedy

JANUARY 17, 2020 TINNITUS

In the last ten years of writing this blog I have written about tinnitus or ringing in the ears on more than one time. It is always good to revisit this topic as it is a common complaint., Loud noises have caused tinnitus like from construction or loud music. The common most cause is a build up of ear wax or cerumen

Some others suffer from tinnitus due to a medication. Some react to salicylates as in aspirin, and in analgesics. If you take aspirin a lot this can be your problem. There are also some foods that contain salicylates which need to be avoided. Salicylates occur in almonds, blueberries, apples, apricots, cherries,. cucumbers., pickles, oranges, peaches tomatoes, and raspberries. You will need a full list of salicylate containing foods.

Low blood sugar has caused tinnitus. Both Vitamin A and zinc deficiency has been implicated. I usually want to know the patients exposure to heavy metals. I have seen many patients with tinnitus who also have heavy metal intoxication with mercury. I do a provocative urine test for heavy metals in NYC patients and a hair analysis for heavy metals for CT patients. The hair testing for metals is no longer legal in the state of New York

Have your metals checked if you have tinnitus.

JANUARY 16, 2020 AN PAINFUL INJURED MSUCLE

You hurt your thigh muscle while rollerblading in Central Park. Not uncommon. You started to develop a bruise. You realize nothing was broken. You iced it after your friend who is an Emergency Room Technician

You can take Alleve or Motrin but these over the counter medication bother your stomach. You want to consider alternatives for the bruised sore muscle.

First think apply Arnica Gel to the affected area This is a great hebr for the bruise. You might consider arnica 30C as a homeopathic remedy. I would also get a salve that has Archilla, Lobelia and Taraxacum in it. It can be easily made by an herbalist. These three herbs are very effective.

You cannot find a herbalist to make you a tincture but you can get CBD cream ( no THC) from Canbiola. www.canbiola.com This is a great CBD company which provides a pain relieving salve o0r Roll On

You see—there are alternatives

JANUARY 15, 2020 LIFE SHIFT

I am constantly reading. I came across a book on my Design Within Reach selves ( which means books sit horizontal on metal shelves) which I read some years ago.

It is Life Shift : Let Go and Live Your Dream. It is written by Aleta St James whom is a friend and colleague. She is not only a healer but also a success coach. Through the years we have had the opportunity to work with the same patients. My experience has been nothing but excellent, open and successful.

Aleta’s story is inspiring as her principles she teaches. Our work is aligned for the good of the patient. She has been an inspiration to me through the years. I urge you to buy her book .

Watch your life change.
