AUGUST 18, 2020 OLEANDRIN-

Recently my dear friend, Jennifer Esposito sent me a link to a plant that was promoted by Trump in July 2020. I want to thank her for the article as it inspired me to look at oleandrin. It never amazes me at the stupidity of our Commander and Chief. He heard about oleadrin in a meeting and instantly started saying the FDA should approve it for C OVID 19. Let me discuss oleadrin

There is no published data showing that oleadrin has ever been tested in animals or human. There was a non peer review stating oleadrin showed some viral inhibition

Let me tell you about oleadrin. Oleadrin is an extract from an African plant, Nerium oleadrin. It might be a pleasing looking plant, but is considered toxic. The compound oleadrin is similar to a compound that is found in foxglove. The compound which is a conventional medication used in cardiology is Digoxin.

Digoxin is used to slow the heart rate or rhythm. It is also used to increase contractility or inotropic action of the heart

I don’t see how this would be beneficial to a patient with COVID.

AUGUST 17, 2020 WHO WANTS NO WRINKLES

Everyone WANTS no wrinkles. As we age no matter what the skin loses moisture, elasticity and internal cell support. There are many products on the market that supposedly help. There is something you can do as be careful about sun exposure, and the food we eat Food and exercise is a great way to help support the skin. By exercising you circulate proper nutrition to the body and thus to the largest organ—the skin.

There are many plants that have been used for the skin over the centuries. Some of these are Lemon Balm ( Melissa ) , Fennel, and Cayenne. Some individuals believe in ingesting Avocados for preventing wrinkles.

I do believe that the Fennel seeds work. Steep a handful of fennel seeds in boiling water Strain out the seeds and add two teaspoon of plan yogurt and one teaspoon of raw honey. Apply as a mask for thirty minutes

You will be impressed with the results.

AUGUST 14, 2020 METAL DETOXIFICATION

We all have toxic metals in our bodies. We live in a TOXIC environment. These metals are mercury, aluminum, arsenic, lead, cadmium, nickel, and barium. There are ways to identify these metals in our bodies. You health care practitioner can do a provocative metal challenge with a chelator or in certain states — a hair analysis. Heavy metals can lead to brain fog, cognitive functions, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Disease, bipolar disease, schizophrenia and even confusion. I feel many conventional neurologists do not consider heavy metals . Once the heavy metal is identified, you need to get rid of it.

This can be done by either a form of chelation therapy as DMSA or EDTA. I find an effective way is a Heavy Metals Detox. You can start the day with drinking 15-32 oz of lemon or lime water followed up in 30 minutes by 16-32 oz of celery juice.

A lot of my patient have followed the Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie prescribed by Anthony Williams You can fo9llow this is his latest book, Medical Medium CLEANSE TO HEAL

He combines a powerful combination of 2 bananas, 2 cups of wild or frozen berries, 1 cup fresh cilantro, 1 tsp of barley juice powder, 1 tsp of spirulina, 1 tablespoon of Atlantic dulse, 1 orange and optional 1 cup of water. I have tasted it I find it appealing and tasty

Try it , I encourage to read his book.

AUGUST 13, 2020 INFLAMMATORY FOODS

We know that foods high in sugar and saturated fats are linked to inflammation. You can’t hear this enough. You must follow a well balanced anti inflammatory , low glycemic dietary lifestyle So you are wondering what foods are better than others.

One of these a red Bell peppers. Although tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are part of the night shade family, this particular Red Bell Pepper is high in antioxidants. It contains a chemical compound called capsaicin which provides this anti inflammatory effect.

One fruit which is anti inflammatory as well as being good for diabetes are pears. They are high in fiber and it has been shown that a fiber rich diet contributes to a healthy microbiome ( the gut flora) It is all about YOUR MICROBIOME

Consume all types of Berries. Become a berry Expert. There is a book in the Edible Series called Berries which I highly recommend.

AUGUST 12, 2020 INVASIVE PLANTS IN YOUR GARDEN

Since I reside most of my time in Connecticut I have broadened my knowledge of plants. I love growing herbs in the garden but more importantly I grow flowers and fruit.

Of course I plant bee friendly flowers

Antioxidants help most every health condition.

A great antioxidant is Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid. Every human being needs Vitamin C and it is found throughout the plant world. Vitamin C is known for its immune enhancing properties, protection against stress on our body, and its ability to chelate out heavy metals. In your garden , you might have wild dandelions which contain a lot of vitamin C.

I started to plant plants high in Vitamin C as well as invasive

These are:

  1. Wormwood

  2. . Blackberry

  3. Garlic mustard

  4. Yarrow

  5. Mullein

  6. St John’s wort

  7. Chickweed

My garden is my peace, serenity and love.

AUGUST 11, 2020 CHILDHOOD DIARRHEA

No one talks about Childhood Diarrhea in the United States. It is the most common of death in children worldwide. It accounts for nearly 5 million deaths per year in developing countries. We do not hear about it in the United States. It is one of the fund raisers that need help to abolish. There are many causes worldwide.

Most of the time, the pediatrician recommends a pharmacy product called Pedialyte. This of course is not always available in poorer countries. Every parents wants to help his/her child There are other remedies, both herbal and vitamins that can be used.

Un 1994 the Journal pf Pediatrics published a trial on the use of Homeopathy in childhood diarrhea. I think it is worth repeating some of those homeopathic remedies that were studied and used in the clinical trial. Some of these remedies are

  1. Arsenicum album

  2. German Chamomille

  3. Elemental Sulphur

  4. Mayapple

Not every pediatrician will know about Clinical Homeopathy. You need to do your research

AUGUST 10, 2020 NEPENTHES OR PITCHER PLANTS

Nepenthes or pitcher plants have fascinated me since I was a child. The These are carnivorous plants. It was the actual Venus fly trap that help my fascination of a summer day in Woolworth’s at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers New York. I found intriguing that a plant would eat an animal and has specialized ways to devour such insects

Tropical Pitcher Plants (Nepenthes) are primarily native to Southeast Asia.  There are roughly 180 species, with many recently discovered in the 20th century. These fascinating carnivorous plants have evolved a way to lure, capture and digest prey. They grow anywhere from hot, sticky jungles to cool montane forests high above the clouds. Though Nepenthes are thought to be difficult to grow, this is far from the truth. Most plants adapt to cultivation quite well and the hobby is growing quickly. I found this out through years of reading. Nepenthes are carnivorous plants that are mainly native to the Malay Archipelago. The genus compromises over 170 species, with many discoveries made in the 20th century. They also go by the name monkey cups, hanging pitcher plants, and tropical pitcher plants.

About three years I found a man who was growing and selling Pitcher Plants from his Greenhouse. My curiosity lead me to his greenhouse in Brooklyn New York. Yes of all places, Brooklyn New York . Unfortunately the owner moved to Morrison TN.

You can visit him there or place your order on line. I would look at his website www.redleafexotics.com or even email him at info@redleafexotics.com I promise you will be captivated and maybe buy a plant.

AUGUST 7-9, 2020 RAINFOREST HERBS

The rainforests of the world contain an abundance of plant life. Ferns, lichens, mosses, orchids, and bromeliads are all epiphytes. The tropical rainforest is also home to nepenthes or pitcher plants. These are plants that grow in the soil. It also contains many botanicals that have been used then and now by tribal shamans for a varietyof health conditions.

Why save the rainforests? As these rainforest start to die due to our owns means of rebuilding in the 21st century—so do these miraculous plants. Dt Leslie Taylor provided us with a great text- The Healing Properties of Rainforest Herbs. Although this text was published 15 years ago — it is my bible for always reading on these herbs. I love this book. She described the medicinal properties of over 70 herbs in the rainforest, as well as dosages and scientific support. For example read about Mikania which is the largest tropical genus of vines. It has over 300 species . If you ever get bite by a poisonous snake in the Rainforest the leaves can be crushed and applied topically. It is commonly called Guaco and has many uses as billing of bacteria and yeast and even protozoans
