MAY 13, 2025 CASTOR OIL

Have you ever tried using Castor Oil ?

Castor oil is a legendary healing oil used for centuries in various cultures worldwide. Ancient Egyptians used it to preserve skin, hair, and nails. People in Greece and China have long been aware of the healing properties of castor oil when used in poultices and compresses.

Castor oil, in itself, is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal. Its active component, ricinoleic acid, has a molecular weight of 298 daltons. In dermatological medicine, a substance with a molecular weight of over 500 daltons can only penetrate the top layer of skin, the epidermis. But, since ricinoleic acid has a lower unique weight, it can penetrate through the epidermis into the next layer of skin. Edgar Cayce had talked about castor oil packs for years in his practice

It ios great for proper elimination Proper elimination of waste from the body is essential so that toxins don’t recirculate in our systems. Many people receive laxative or stool softener prescriptions to get things moving if they have constipation. Castor oil has been used for centuries as an oral laxative

I use gluthathione a lot in my practice. Glutathione is a potent detoxifying molecule naturally present in the body. Its main job is to remove toxic substances, such as heavy metals and free radicals. The body usually recycles glutathione. But when the toxic load becomes too great, we lose this ability, so getting as much glutathione as possible is essential.

Castor oil can indirectly support glutathione levels and liver detoxification, which is closely tied to glutathione activity.

There are so many uses for castor oil. It is an old remedy. My grandmother believed in castor oil for many different ailments

MAY 12, 2025 OLIVE OIL

Did you have your olive oil today? I was probably bathed in olive oil as a child. The vegetable oils that predominantly monounsatured lead to a less cardiovascular risk than polyunsaturated. It was long ago that physicians did recommend those polyunsaturated oils to protect your heart. But as it turns out- That was WRONG. Margarine took the place of butter at that time. That was a big mistake. From research we know better today.

The following oils do not pose a threat to the cardiovascular system
1. OLIVE
2. CANOLA
3. PEANUT
4. AVOCADO
There are differences in all four, and the one I prefer and highly recommend above all is OLIVE OIL. Due to the generosity of many patients I get virgin olive oil from Italy and Greece

By replacing saturated fat in the diet with olive oil will reduce your LDL ( bad cholesterol). Who can argue with an oil that has been around for thousands of years. Our Italian olive oil from our tree is Extra-virgin.
This is extracted with gentle pressure rather than with heat or solvents.

No matter what you decide , Olive Oil has the best correlation with health. The populations that use olive oil solely and mainly as their cooking fat oil have lower reductions in degenerative disease, cancer and cardiovascular disease. You can have one teaspoon to one tablespoon every day in your diet

If you replace butter ( and for those unfortunate that still use margarine) with olive oil you are making the first step to a healthier lifestyle.

So imagine this: combine olive oil in your diet daily with omega 3 fatty acids from good quality fish--and you will have longevity

MAY 8, 2025 MOLD AND COFFEE

Mycotoxins from mold can be a serious illness. In our office we test for mold. We utilize the Mosaic Lab to test for various mycotoxins from a variety of species. Most of the time mycotoxins are present in an individual’s home after water damage or a flood in a home It can also be located in one’s work environment especially if the building is old. It can be hidden in air conditioners and duct work within one’s cooling/heating units.

Mycotoxins have been linked to immunotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxiciyt, cancer Alzheimer’s and even Parkinson’s Disease

Mold can even be present in coffee. Mold can grow in coffee, particularly when it's exposed to moisture and stored improperly. This can lead to the production of mycotoxins, which are harmful substances. While mold and mycotoxins are present in some coffee, Healthline notes that the levels are usually low. Proper storage, choosing mold-free brands, and regular cleaning of coffee makers can help minimize exposure.

Due to a diligent patient for a long time she has provided me with a coffee that is mold free. One company is  Fabula Vanilla Flavored Organic

MAY 7, 2025 FOODS FOR YOUR BRAIN

To preserve cognitive function there are many foods you need to consume. There are conventional medications with little success and too many side effects. There are supplements that do work as Lion’s Mane, Bacopa, Omega 3, and ashwagandha. I suggest these supplements all the time.

Yet you can do some foods to nourish the brain

One of the first foods to consume are berries Berries especially purple ones are high in antioxidants These antioxidants protect brain cells from oxidative cells. I prefer blueberries but any purple berries are excellent- mulberries, wolfberries and even raspberries. The second food you want to comsume are the cruciferous vegetables as broccoli, kale, cauliflower, brussell sprouts and many more. These vegetables detoxify the body which is neededd and support the nerve function in the body. The last food can be controversial. These are eggs Eggs are the natural source of choline -Choline is the precursor to acetylcholine

The one protein other than eggs that providers EPA and DHA are fatty fish - like mackerel, and sardines. You need these fish to help and assist in memory and learning abilities. You could take omega 3 in supplement form if you do not fike fish You can also take omega 3 made from algae instead of fish I recommend between 2000-4000/day

The last group of food that are essential are nuts and seeds. All nuts are good but walnuts arer high in omega 3 . They also contain vitamin E ,magnesium and polyphenols

Consume these foods for better cognitive function

MAY 6, 2025 WEIGHT LOSS

The injectable weight loss drugs have increased in popularity All individuals want them whether they are a diabetic or not. They want a quick way While these medications work, there are side effects

So what are alternatives that are more natural. There is eliminating white sugar for starts. Then you have to increase physical exercise. The last is to get more sleep These are definite alternatives to injecting every week ( especially if your insurance will not cover these types of medications.

I do know that apple cider vinegar can also work. You must take one to two tablespoons in a glass of 8 oz water daily to reduce body fat percentage and belly fat. It decreases triglycerides in your body As triglycerides decrease the HDL ( the good cholesterol) starts to increase. Apple cider vinegar aids in digestion by increasing HCl Make sure you get raw organic apple cider vinegar

You can also take L carnitine. L carnitine is an amino acid that can significantly reduce body weight, body mass index and fat mass. It is taken in the morning on an empty stomach. It helps breaks down calories by transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria. It helps restrict the accumulation of fat around the liver and the heart.

I also use restriction of foods based on their inflammatory component for your blood type as well as restrict foods that are gut sensitive You must reduce all foods that are high in carbohydrates especially the simple sugars.

We all should lose weight

MAY 5, 2025 RED LIGHT THERAPY

Red light therapu or low level laser therapy is done at many offices in NYC and Fairfield. The wavelngths of red light or near infra red saunas penetrate the skin We have a SUNLIGHTEN infrared sauna in the Connecticut office in Fairfield

The light stimulate the powerhouses of the cell- the mitochondria Wit the increased energy the cells repair and thus regenerate faster- helping the body’s natural processes , The red light therapy stimulate the circulation and oxygen delivery It is amazing This helps the body lose fat cells An innovative way to lose weight. The deep penetration reaches the fat layers beneath The light interacts with the fat cells releasing its stored comntents Its stored contents are fatty acids, glyceraols and water

These are carried away by the lymphatic system and are metabolized as energy This is a great way to help and lose weight also.

This is a gentle noninvasive alternative to liposuction, weekly injections and a strict restricted diet I find the SUNLIGHTEN to be the state of the art . It is a medical grade red light therapy

APRIL 30, 2025 TURKEY RHUBARB

I have used this herb for many years for hot flashes. Everyone discusseds black cohash but i prefer this herb Turkey Rhubarb or Rheum palmatum, also known as the Himalayan rhubarb or Chinese Rhubarb, is a herb whose root has some potent medicinal properties. It is a flowering plant and belongs to Polygonaceae (knotweed family) The roots of this plant contain certain potent biochemical compounds that could alleviate many health conditions.

love this herb for the perimenopausal or menopausal female According to a double-blinded, randomized study, the results of which appeared in 2006, perimenopausal women who included Rhubarb in their diet for 12 weeks showed a significant decrease in the severity and frequency of menopausal symptoms. It also has blood-clotting properties that could help promote clotting and prevent excess bleeding during menopause

Yet another benefit of Chinese Rhubarb is that it promotes weight loss. It can process the food as soon as it reaches the digestive system

Metabolism: It improves glucose and lipid metabolism and is crucial in managing obesity.

  • Lowers Cholesterol: It helps in lowering Cholesterol, which is one of the important factors in weight management.

  • Anti-adipogenic: In addition to adding fiber to your diet, phytochemicals in rhubarb act as cardioprotective, lipid-lowering, and anti-adipogenic effects

Try this herb for your health needs. Always consult a health care practitioner

APRIL 29, 2025 INFLAMMATION

Inflammation is a key word in medicine. The anti aging approaches to decreasing inflammation involve many modalities. Some of these modalities may be hot laser therapy, biomodulation with infrared pads, acupuncture, physical therapy, supplements/vitamins and herbs. Inflammation is complex and mediated by the activation, production, secretion and activities of a host of cellular biochemicals. This could get very technical because it does involve enzyme reactions, tumor necrosis factor, cyclooxygenase pathways and probiotics.

Many individuals use over the counter anti-inflammatory agents to decrease inflammation. These OTCs have been linked to blocking choline in the brain and are now associated with Alzheimer's Disease

The herbs I utilize for inflammation are green tea, ginger, tumeric and Boswellia. I also use white willow bark. I do not use one herb for inflammation but a complementation of many herbs.

For centuries Boswellia (Indian Frankincense) has been known to decrease inflammation

Boswellia contains boswellic acids which act as the primary anti-inflammatory agent. This herb does a lot of down regulation of immunomodulators much like the pharmaceutical drugs. So why use drugs?

The answer is that you can make more money by manufacturing drugs than by growing and selling Boswellia herb. Lately, it ALWAYS seems to come down to the money when dealing with medicin

There are two double blind studies on osteoarthritis of the knees and the use of Boswellia. Not only did it reduce stiffness, it also improved joint function. There are now studies using Boswellia for inflammatory bowel disease and asthma
