Suggest this supplement to your naturopathic physician as it can improve energy . This was discussed in Dr LKee Know’s new book, The Mitochoindrial Theory of Aging. Dr Know is a naturopathic physician and best selling author. I would encourage all ND’s to read his new book.

NOVEMBER 13, 2018 ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

This is a problem that must NOT be ignored. Up to 10% of men younger than 40 suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) and upwards of 60% of men by age 69.

Are you one of these men? Or do you know someone who does suffer from ED?

The common lifestyle measures associated with ED are smoking, alcohol, drug use, sleep disorders and obesity . As an integrative physician I use both conventional and natural treatments for ED.There are natural urologists - Dr Geo Espinosa and Dr Ralph Esposito. I know both very well and encourage you to see them if you have a problem.

I could easily prescribe Viagra and other agents, but most of the time I do not. I will use high dose citrulline ( precursor to arginine) as a vasodilator and the release of nitric oxide. Rhodiola has been studied for stress fatigue and ED and there were positive results. Withania ( also known as ashwagandha) was not superior to placebo in psychogenic ED. I might still use it with other herbs as epimedium or horney goat weed. These are more effective after months of use and gets better with long term use

NOVEMBER 12, 2018 PROSTATE CANCER

As I teach Oncology at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, I tend to write a lot about cancer. About 20 % of all prostate enlargement results in cancer. 80 % of these are slow growing. There are many factors that result in the incidence of prostate cancer.

We do know diets high in animal fats and refined sugars and lower fiber and vegetables have a higher incidence of prostate CA. Development of diabetes due to these bad changes inb dietary lifestyle are a high predictor as in many other cancers.

As with all cancers, the environment plays a variety of roles. Chemical toxin exposure is a high risk Industries with a higher risk include petrochemical, rubber and textile, yet pollution in cities should not be ignored.

A higher incidence has been reported in men exposed to cadmium if there men work with batteries. Do not forget that smoking cigarettes is a factor as cigarettes contain cadmium

NOVEMBER 9, 2018 BLOOD PRESSURE

I am always interested in supplements and herbs that lower blood pressure. I utilize citrulline, magnesium, hawthorn and globe artichoke to lower blood pressure.

A study from Thomas Jefferson University found out that melatonin supplements lowered blood pressure in both young and older patients. It was a small study group and more studies needs to be done. The dose used was 9 mg for those in the melatonin group . There was a significant lower BP of 7.3 mm Hg in the melatonin group versus non melatonin group

NOVEMBER 8, 2018 DAIRY AND PK

There are more than 6.2 million Americans who suffer from Parkinson’s Disease.( PD) The aim of treatment in the United States is to slow the progression. Unfortunately many conventional doctors do not investigate heavy metal intoxication. There is no cure for PD, I always want to identify the underlying factors. My focus is prevention and detoxification protocols. A new study has linked the association of PD and dairy intake.

The conclusion of the study revealed that consumption of more than three servings per day of low fat dairy foods ( which could include skim or low fat milk, sherbet and frozen yogurt) were associated with an increased risk of Parkinson’s Disease ( PD).

There was NO difference in men and women with PD
