Growing medicinal plants indoors vastly increases your ability to cultivate a comprehensive survival apothecary. Start healing herb and plant seeds indoors is always a great idea. Last Spring 2019 I started to grow some plants indoors which I transferred to the outside by early summer. These were Basil, turmeric, tarragon, mint, chives and lavender.

One of the easiest was Tarragon which I never grew before this year.

This healing herb can help treat stomach aches, toothaches, and insomnia. Tarragon could also help improve insulin sensitivity and help regulate blood sugar. It can also help normalize sleep patterns and reduce pain associated with Osteoarthritis, as well as sparking an increase in appetite.

SEPTEMBER 20-22, 2019 BIRTH CONTROL

There are many women on birth control around the world. The pill uses progestin and estrogen or progestin alone. The pill prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. The ‘ pill’ of today contains little or no estrogen. Today, there are fewer side effects of weight gain and mood swings than in the earlier days of the pill use

It is not expensive - less than $10 for those without health insurance if you obtain at a local community health center. If used correctly it is 97 % effective. I would check its content on gluten for those with celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity.

There is a risk of developing a blood clot also called thrombosis ( especially if the pill has estrogens) For those that have a methylation defect , or MTHFR 677 you should not go on the pill. This is especially important for homozygous MTHFR +/+ 677 These individuals should NOT go on birth control

SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 VARICOSE VEINS

Varicose veins are the result of valve damage and loss of elasticity that allows blood to pool inside the vessel. This is especially evident when an individual is standing . When you stand for a long period of time the valve stops working.

There are many men and women who will not wear shorts in the summer/fall due to varicose veins. There are treatments that are available besides laser , saline injections and surgery

These other treatments are exercise, yoga, headstands and the obvious compression stockings

There are botanical treatments as horse chestnut as well as gingko biloba. There are even homeopathic remedies that can offer some good results. I have seen infrared saunas help alleviate the varicosities

SEPTEMBER 18, 2019 HOLISTIC VETERNARY MEDICINE

Holistic veterinarians do exist within the United States. From my readings there is not a different training until after their degree is obtained. There are many courses that offer a different aspect of holistic treatment for animals.

These veterinarians in their treatment use an integrative or holistic approach. Perhaps like me, an integrative MD , their might use fewer conventional medicines, and even look at your pet’s dietary lifestyle

Alternative treatments as acupuncture, laser and even massage can be used to manage your pets pain. I have even used bee stings or bee venom therapy for a dog’s arthritis

SEPTEMBER 17, 2019 CANCER WARS: RBAC

There is a nutritional compound developed by Daiwa Pharmaceuticals and sold as a functional food in Japan It is called RBAC - Rice bran arabinoxylan compound. The main ingredient arabinoxylan has to be extracted using a hot water extraction with medical mushrooms. Since it is a large molecule it is only absorbed and broken down into smaller components.

This is not new. RBAC has been studied for the last 24 years especially with its anti cancer effects. It acts a potent response modifier thus possessing having immunomodulating anticancer effects. It also has bene shown to work synergistically with conventional chemotherapy compounds. It has been reported to have the following effects:

1. enhanced immunoprofile

2. improved treatment outcomes

3. decreased tumor markers

4. increased lifespan

RBAC also boosts NK cell activity , proliferates B and T cells and macrophages

SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 CANCER WARS: SALICINIUM

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. There were 1.8 million new cases in the United States in 2018 While technology and new research has taken us far, we still limited about information of natural compounds as herbs( botanicals) and supplements that can effectively treat cancer.

We are focused on chemotherapy in the United States, While this may be life saving in some cancers it is NOT for everyone. There is botanical medicine, nutraceuticals and dietary changes that play a pivotal role in the treatment of cancers. I am NOT an oncologist. I have used in both oral and IV form in cancer patients with the patients written consent and each patient obtaining the salicinium. There is even a clinical protocol study involved 675 patients with stage IV cancer. The 675 patients included had a wide spectrum of stage IV cancer. These included lung, pancreatic, breast, colon, melanoma, sarcoma, uterine and much more. Salicinium extensively extended the survival in these patients.

SEPTEMBER 13-15, 2019 MUSHROOMS

Medicinal Mushrooms are exquisite and spectacular All edible mushrooms benefit the immune system and are cancer protective. At The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine I teach oncology. I am not an oncologist. During the course I introduce the students to 15 - 20 medicinal mushrooms that have been studied and researched for their use in treatment /support in various cancers.

There are many useful books on mushrooms. One of the best books dealing with the understanding of mushrooms is Paul Stamett’s “ Mycelium Running “ A recent book by Stepfanie Romine called “ Cooking with Healing Mushrooms: 150 Delicious Adaptogen Rich Recipes that Boost Immunity, Reduce Inflammation and Promote Whole Body Health” should be in everyone’s library and kitchen.

Two mushrooms are also adaptogens- Reishi and Cordyceps. Turkey Tail conatins PSK that has been studied to inhibit cancer growth. Maitaki and Shitake were used to treat HV early in the disease. Osyter mushrooms contain a statin drog lovastatin which reduces cholesterol.
